CHRISTIAN PLATT

Born 1986 in Washington D.C., Christian Platt’s early study of painting began during classes at the Maret School and weekend classes at the Corcoran College of Art.  Following his graduation from Maret in 2005, he attended Denison University for a semester before deciding to move West, where he worked in the cutting horse program at the Switchback Ranch in Red Lodge, Montana and spent summers as a wrangler in the Ranch’s big game hunting camps based in the Absaroka Range outside of Cody, Wyoming.  He returned to painting in the summer of 2008 and moved back East to focus full-time on large scale oil landscapes and still lifes.
Christian Platt’s first solo show was held at Susan Calloway Fine Arts in March 2009, which was followed by his inclusion as a featured artist in the summer 2009 Ausstellung at the AAART Foundation in Kirchberg, Austria.  Moving to Portland, Maine, he continued his study of painting on his own until deciding to enroll at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in August 2010.  He is currently a full time student in their four-year certificate program and lives, works, and studies in Philadelphia, PA.
